Hi Team,
As Coach AJ mentioned, there are a bunch of DC Tri members racing this weekend. Exciting.

So excited to see you all this weekend and to race with you all. I contacted Kinetic Multisport and unfortunately, there will not be an open water swim practice on Friday. womp womp.
However, it would be nice to see you at the DCTC open house – even if it is to just say hello!

Jorge Alvarez replied to the topic Term "LT" in the forum Olympic Distance Program (ODP) for Paid Participants 5 years, 2 months ago
I think this is a great question – perhaps Coah might be able to answer it better.
My feedback:
- Our LT changes as we continue training. In my opinion, it should always improve as you are working harder the more you train, and your body should adjust to these changes, in a good way.
- You could always re-take this LT test to see if you should…

Never feel embarrassed to ask – its better to ask than keep doing your workouts without knowing exactly what you are supposed to do.
COACH – amazing at always keeping on top of questions/posts! Thanks for all your help

ODPers.
How is your training going? Are you excited to race next weekend and put everything you’ve worked on into practice? Are you excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel? 2 more weeks and then you get your life back – ha!
In case you want to get some OWS practice, and in case you don’t have any early plans on 4th July – WaveOne…[Read more]

Do you know if Banneker has lap swimming in the evenings? If so, do you ever go there? It should be great to be swimming outside with this weather – I’ll join

Jorge Alvarez started the topic Cycling Cleats/Pedals – Difference? in the forum Half Ironman Program (HIP) for Paid Participants 5 years, 5 months ago
Hi Coach,
Question – what are the recommended cycling cleats for triathlons?
Even though I feel like my cycling has improved throughout this training, I have noticed others with different cleats than mine (SPD). For instance, the Elite Team, folks I’ve seen at races, and when I go down to Hains Point – they use LOOK Delta.
Is there a major…[Read more]

Hi gang – hows your training going thus far?
I would like to talk about every-day nutrition and not so much about nutrition while biking, even though that one is also important. However, there’s another thread on that topic, let’s keep it going.
During clinic day 2, I realized that I wasn’t the only vegetarian in the group, and of course, I imm…[Read more]

Jorge Alvarez replied to the topic Recovery Week in the forum Olympic Distance Program (ODP) for Paid Participants 5 years, 5 months ago
Oh yea.. I have moved that “day off” around a few times. I have also taken a day off to recover when I had workouts planned. The last thing you want to do is, to workout when you are mentally and physically exhausted. Sure, I missed a whole day of training, but remember, you can move workouts around.
For instance, I took Saturday completely off…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing…
I just checked the DC tri site and we get a 15% off discount.
The BARS are 5 for $15 or 20 for $50 – then the discount. Not bad, especially since they seem to be extremely healthy. I will actually try them

Just like Margaret mentioned – you can take this test again later on. This is just to determine your thresholds for training purposes. If you didn’t do well, then focus on redoing it the following week.
A few things I have noticed with my training:
- Truly – read the Athlete’s Guide as you will find a lot of helpful info
- Running cadence –

Great feedback. Like coach AJ mentioned, you want to start practicing everything right now.
Something I have been doing, and just like coach AJ recommended, is weighting myself before and after my bike and run workouts to see how much water and nutrition I am actually consuming. Something I am struggling with is drinking enough water/electrolytes…[Read more]
